Overview
At Global Medical Response, the learning team primarily used Lectora to build online training. While the tool met basic development needs, it limited our ability to create modern, interactive learning experiences and slowed down course development.
As training needs grew, it became clear that the team needed a more flexible and scalable authoring environment.
Business Problem
Our training content needed to be:
More engaging for learners
Easier for the team to update and maintain
Optimized for mobile learning
The existing platform limited interactive design options and created difficulties in the development process, which made it harder to scale course development across multiple projects.
My Process & Analysis
I began by reviewing our existing course development process and identified several key constraints:
Limited interactive design capabilities
Slower development workflows
Difficulty creating mobile-friendly learning experiences
After discussing these challenges with stakeholders and reviewing our long-term learning needs, I recommended transitioning to a more modern and flexible authoring ecosystem.
Solution & Tools
I led the transition from Lectora to Articulate Storyline and Rise. As part of the transition, I:
Introduced new authoring workflows for course development
Developed and redesigned several courses using Storyline and Rise
Incorporated interactive simulations and scenario-based learning into course design
Impact
Moving to a modern authoring ecosystem made a noticeable difference for both the development team and learners. This shift allowed our learning team to create more engaging and responsive learning experiences while improving the overall development workflow. Results Included:
Faster course development
More interactive and mobile-friendly learning experiences
Improved learner engagement which contributed to higher course completion rates.
